October 18, 2004 Wi-Fone Goes Live Boston, MA Oct 18, 2004 DiamondWare, Ltd. announces today that its Wi-Fone product is now available to consumers. This SIP-based softphone for PocketPC and Windows was designed for mobile people who want an alternative to cellular service's pricing and audio quality. It was designed to "just work", and includes all of the necessary DSP algorithms including echo cancellation, even on PocketPC. The company also announces its first ITSP partnership, Voiceworks, of Miami, FL. "Voiceworks helps us provide a viable offering, including not just the power to make PSTN phone calls, which is commonplace, but receive them on a regular PSTN number," said Keith Weiner, DiamondWare's CEO. "In a growing number of cities, such as Austin, TX, there is Wi-Fi access throughout the downtown area. Anyone with a PDA can save money, carry around just one converged device and, most importantly, enjoy quality better than cellular. Frequent travelers, especially business travelers, benefit even more. Unlike cellular, Wi-Fi is an international standard. Wi-Fone enables travelers to consistently make calls and be reached from a local phone number to their US-based friends and associates from anywhere in the world." The software is a free download on www.wi-fone.biz/von, and Voiceworks is offering attendees of the Voice on the Net trade show free accounts with over an hour of talk time. "We're confident that people will like it once they try it," Weiner said. About DiamondWare Founded in 1994, DiamondWare is a self-funded entrepreneurial team focused on fourth-generation VoIP applications which leverage its patent-pending audio, 3D presence, voice colorizing, multi-conferencing, and Wi-Fi mobility technologies.
